The release of the 42PFL9803 from Philips sees the introduction of ground breaking technology in the form of LED backlighting. Black levels and motion blur has always been a challenge to overcome with current LCD technology. Thanks to the revolutionary LED backlight and the unique LED local dimming backlight technology, LED LUX washed out blacks are no longer a problem.
The LED Lux panels use a rear mounted grid of over 1000 white LEDs that are operated selectively. They generate brilliant light in bright areas and are dimmed to lower levels in dark scenes. The result is intense colour, very high contrast and natural rich tones.
