The KDL-40S5500 is an entry level Sony LCD TV that packs a punch without costing the earth. Hidden behind this 2009 model’s screen lies Sony’s renowned Bravia Engine; a unique processing system for perfecting a more enhanced image with greater contrast.

From around £630 it may be on the first rung of the Bravia line up for 2009 but like the rest of its siblings it has an impressive spec.

The KDL-40S5500 is a 40 inch Full HD 1080 Bravia LCD TV that sports High Definition detail with the 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution, BRAVIA ENGINE 2, 24p True Cinema and 33000:1 dynamic contrast ratio plus three HDMI^TM inputs (two on rear, one on side).

Bravia’s advanced picture processing produces clear defined images full of depth and contrast in addition 24p True Cinema allows you to enjoy a true cinematic experience at home.

This stylish Bravia S5500 series has a built in media player so you can listen to songs and enjoy a slideshow of your pictures. USB connectivity allows playback of both music and photos directly through your TV.

You’ll enjoy sharing photos and music on a much bigger screen which is so much better than huddled around a PC. To get the show on the road all you have to do is plug in your digital camera or insert any mp3 or USB-enabled device.

The KDL40S5500 has 24p True Cinema for the best home movie experience. This special feature is designed to display 24 frames per second in other words you get to see the film as it was originally intended for the cinema. A conventional TV can’t handle the 24p format but this new Sony Bravia TV can and stays in perfect sync with the original source.

Clever technology delivers immersive viewing with enhanced images and smooth scenes. There is also a scene select feature that optimises the settings to fit in with the content you’re watching, simply by pressing a button. You can choose between Sports, Cinema, Game Mode and more.

In the audio department Virtual Dolby® Surround and BBE ViVA sound technology creates an atmospheric surround sound to add to the movie like experience.
